NFC Solutions - Orange and KDDI
 Gemalto is contributing to Europe's first commercial rollout in Nice, France. Orange selected Gemalto as partner for its NFC project, enabling the interconnection with any service provider, such as banks and transport operators. It allows citizens and visitors in Nice to use their NFC-enabled mobile phones to pay in the wave of hand at restaurants, supermarkets and local stores, as well as riding the city's buses and tramways. Elsewhere, Japanese operator KDDI has chosen Gemalto to provide cards and its Trusted Service Management (TSM) solution for their upcoming NFC program. KDDI has launched a pilot where users can experience various types of NFC services ranging from mobile payments, transportation services, e-driver licences, e-ticketing, as well as information acquisition from smart posters. Success story - Boosting phonebook backup service at Mobistar Belgium
 In 2009, Mobistar first deployed Gemalto's interactive technology in order to improve the discovery and use rate of ContactSave, a service designed to back-up contacts stored within the SIM card.
Gemalto performed a Promotional Interactive SMS campaign to increase the use of ContactSave. Subscribers received a pop-up message on their mobile screen prompting them to back-up their contacts. In one click they were able to launch the synchronization of their phonebook.
This campaign alone resulted in a five-fold increase in traffic. Overall, the use of ContactSave grew by a factor of 10 over a 4 month period. More...

Gemalto's LTE platform nominated for the LTE Awards
 Gemalto was nominated for the Long Term Evolution (LTE) Award for best Enabling Product / Technology at LTE Awards as part of the LTE World Summit 2010 last May. This nomination highlights Gemalto's technology as a world's first in terms of remotely servicing mobile applications, managing the UICC (Universal Integrated Circuit Card), as well as other innovative features.
